The Xiaomi Mi4 was released in August while the Sony Xperia Z3 was launched at the IFA 2014 and will be released in September.

Both the Xiaomi Mi4 and the Sony Xperia Z3 are powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Krait 400 processor at 2.5 GHz with 3 GB of RAM.

The difference is that the Xperia Z3 runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat while the Xiaomi Mi4 runs on Android 4.4.3 KitKat with MIUI 6 UI. The Xperia Z3 has 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options while the Mi4 offers 16 GB and 64 GB of in-built memory.

The Xperia Z3 has microSD card support for memory expansion of up to 128 GB but the Mi4 does not have it.

The Mi4 sports a 5-inch Sharp/JDI OGS full lamination screen with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and 441ppi pixel density while the Xperia Z3 features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with the same resolution as the Mi4 and 424 ppi.

The Xperia Z3 has the Triluminos and X-Reality display technology with thick bezels and rounded edges. Meanwhile the Mi4 still has its iPhone design philosophy with the same stainless steel frame and white plastic fixers on its metallic band.

The Xiaomi Mi4 is 0.35-inch thick and weighs 149 g while the Xperia Z3 is 0.29-inch thick and weighs 152 g.

The Xiaomi Mi4 features a 13 megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flashwhile the Sony Xperia Z3 sports a 20.7 megapixel rear camera with LED flash.

The Mi4 has a Li-Ion 3080 mAh battery capacity while the Xperia Z3 has Li-Ion 3100 mAh. Both batteries aren't replaceable.

The Mi4 reportedly costs $399 while a SIM-free Xperia Z3 is said to cost £525 in the UK.
