Chinese smartphone maker Alcatel has announced that its latest devices - the Alcatel Idol 4 smartphone and Alcatel POP 7 LTE tablet - are now available for purchase in Canada. Both these Alcatel Android devices will be available in the country via Bell and Virgin Mobile carriers.

The Alcatel Idol 4 smartphone will be priced for as low as $0 upfront on a 2-year plan or $299.99 with a no term contract, while the Alcatel Pop 7 LTE tablet will cost for around $149.99 or $6.25 a month with $0 upfront. Alcatel also announced that the Idol 4 smartphone would be bundled with a free VR goggle.

The Alcatel Idol 4 features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display screen with a decent pixel density of 424 pixels-per-inch (PPI) and 2.5D glass panel. The device is powered by an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 617 processor. It comes with 2GB of RAM onboard and a built-in 16GB internal memory storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card slot.

The Idol 4 sports a 13-megapixel primary camera with phase detection autofocus (PDAF), f/2.0 aperture, and a dual-toned LED flash. On the front is a large 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies with LED flash support. It is fueled by a non-removable 2,610mAh capacity battery that supports Alcatel's latest Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

The Alcatel POP 7 LTE tablet features a huge 7-inch LCD screen with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution. The tablet is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon processor clocked at a speed of 1.1 GHz. It is packed with 1GB of RAM onboard and 8GB native memory storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. It has a 5-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel front facing shooter. The device is fueled by 3,240mAh battery and runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out of the box.
