Football transfer rumors are out and one of its claims is that Real Madrid is set to target Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as soon as the La Liga club's transfer ban is lifted by FIFA.

After an excellent performance scoring 39 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side last season, the 27-year-old Gabon international has been identified as the next 'Galactico' signing by Real chairperson Florentino Pérez, as per Sportskeeda.

Aubameyang said to have attracted Los Blancos' "interest in January and once again in June but they never moved in for him, instead opting" to deal first for Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, who the club bought back from Juventus last June for £26 million.

Meanwhile, the Gabonese goalscorer has been vocal about his dream to one day play for the Bernabéu giants as it was his promise to his grandfather even when he was still a child.

The fulfillment of the promise is going to be delayed, though, as Real is set to enter a transfer ban from FIFA.

FIFA handed Real Madrid and its cross-city La Liga outfit, Atletico Madrid, a two transfer-window ban for breaching the regulations of the sport's world-governing body with regards to signing players under the age of 18.

BBC Sport reported that according to FIFA's investigation, underage players had suited up for Real from 2005 to 2014 while Atleti also fielded in ineligible players from 2007 to 2014.

The teams were also fined substantial amounts, which are £249,000 for Real and £622,000 for Atleti.

The two clubs have appealed the verdict, making its enactment delay by one transfer window, with Los Blancos specifically saying in their letter that the decision is "deeply unjust and contrary to the fundamental principles of disciplinary law".

However, FIFA denied the appeal and so the transfer ban on both Madrid outfits will be effective on January 2017 and the summer window of that same year.

"Both clubs are to serve a transfer ban that prevents them from registering any players at national and international level for the next two complete and consecutive registration periods," FIFA said in an official statement.
