Internet personality Matt Drudge was recently slammed by several new agencies for his conspiracy theories about the impending threat of Hurricane Matthew which was tagged by weather bureaus as a Category 4 storm.

In one of his tweets, Drudge wrote, "The deplorables are starting to wonder if govt has been lying to them about Hurricane Matthew intensity to make exaggerated points on climate."

Drudge, who is the owner and editor of the popular Drudge Report, later said that the US Hurricane Center "has monopoly on data." He added that there is no way of verifying the claims of the scientific agency tasked with monitoring weather disturbances.

In Drudge's views, professional weather scientists are paid to release sensational facts to support climate change. Drudge also claims that the government and the scientific community are conspiring to make climate change look worse, according to The Verge.

It would appear that Drudge is not the only person who agrees that climate change is a conspiracy. Back in 2012, current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump tweeted this: "The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive."

As part of the state's contingency plan, residents who lived on the path Hurricane Matthew is predicted to traverse were asked to evacuate. Weather experts are predicting that the hurricane has enough wind power to create coastal surges with waves expected to be as high as 18 feet.
