Several leaks that have surfaced over the weekend have hinted that tech giant Microsoft is working on an overhauled version of the famous Paint application for Windows 10 operating system. Additionally, an early version of the updated Paint app has appeared online and can be downloaded.

The release of the app's early version was accompanied by a video that demonstrates Paint's support for 3D objects and supports pen and touch-friendly devices. . Moreover, the leak confirmed that the app have been available to Microsoft testers since May.

According to The Verge, while the new Paint app offers a handful of new and interesting features, many graphic experts quickly pointed its lack of support for layering.

Since this has been brought up already, it is expected that Microsoft will think of adding it once the official version of the Paint app rolls out.

What was pointed out as well as the new Paint app's lack of hotkey shortcuts which is pretty much ubiquitous to popular graphic editing tools like Photoshop.

The lack of support for opening multiple files at the same time is another limitation that the company may want to look into to encourage more users to patronize the app.

Based on the reaction of those who have tested the new Paint app, it appears that Microsoft is bent on creating a basic photo editing or object creation tool, although, it is still early to tell since the company has yet to officially confirm all the features that will be integrated into it.
