Savari, SAIC Motor Team Up to Bring V2X Sensor Technology to China

US sensor maker Savari Inc announced on Tuesday that it has inked a deal with Chinese car maker SAIC Motor Corp. Ltd. to manufacture and distribute Savari's V2X communications solutions in China and other markets in Southeast Asia.

Under the partnership, the world's biggest and industry-leading V2X communications provider and China's largest automotive manufacturer will work together to connect cars with roadway infrastructure to pave way for the increasing use of autonomous vehicles, Reuters reported.

The agreement will make SAIC the distributor and value-added reseller of Savari technology in China and select ASEAN countries, according to Market Wired.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"When we looked for a partner to bring our next generation V2X sensor technology to the China connected and self-driving car market, SAIC was our top choice," Ravi Puvvala, Savari CEO, said, adding that the company is looking forward to make use of SAIC's massive distribution, marketing, engineering, and manufacturing ability.

Meanwhile, Wenhua Huang, President of SAIC USA Inc., also looks forward to working and deploying Savari's technology in China.

"Savari has a proven track record for developing innovative solutions that connect vehicles to the surrounding infrastructure, and the distance covered in Savari's testing on real roads is unparalleled," Huang said.

The companies are already fulfilling on a substantial order from two major clients, namely, Shanghai International Automobile City and Tongji University, which reportedly have plans to implement a live open road smart city test bed equipped with both LTE-V and DSRC based V2X solutions. The smart city will feature over 10,000 vehicles equipped with Savari's V2X solutions, according to Market Wire.
