China is expected to feature some of the best equipment that the People's Liberation Army and state-owned defense giants have to offer the world.

Products on show at the biennial event will include the latest products and techologies in the space, aviation, electronics and land armament industries. Fighter jets, transport planes, drones, missiles, tanks and artillery guns will be on display.

Ahead of the show's opening, large numbers of aircraft from the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) have been flown to Zhuhai.

The star of the show will likely be the huge Chengdu J-20 multirole stealth fighter, China's first fifth-generation fighter to enter series production. Military enthusiasts are also looking forward to seeing the J-20 up close and personal.

The J-20, is expected to enter service with the PLAAF by 2025. Only some 10 of these fighters have been produced so far and none is combat ready.

Online videos show two J-20s completing aerobatic maneuvers in preparation for an aerial display at the event.

Also be seen at the show will be the Xian Y-20 strategic transport plane; the Shaanxi KJ-500 airborne early warning and control aircraft; the Guizhou FTC-2000 advanced trainer jet and the Harbin Z-19E attack helicopter.

All were developed and manufactured by China's leading aircraft producer, Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), and are in service with the PLAAF.

The Y-20, China's first domestically developed heavy-lift transport jet, was commissioned in July. It has a maximum payload of 66 metric tons and a maximum takeoff weight of more than 200 tons. AVIC will export the aircraft once it receives government approval.

The KJ-500 is the latest in the PLA's support aircraft fleet. Its cutting-edge fixed phased-array radar and two passive electronic intelligence arrays are capable of tracking up to 100 targets simultaneously at a distance of 470 kilometers.

The China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics, one of the nation's largest military drone developers, will showcase the latest model in its Cai Hong series of reconnaissance and combat drones at the air show.

These drones have been sold to militaries in more than 10 countries, mostly in the Middle East and Africa, and can compete with any other drones of their kind, according to publicity officers.

Also on display will be the newest missiles from China's largest missile manufacturer, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. Certain to be a show stopper will be the first public appearance of the CM-302, the export version of the YJ-12 supersonic anti-ship missile, which is also capable of attacking ground targets.
