Buick revealed on Monday the first recipient of its Avenir name, the China-only GL8 minivan.

The GL8 Avenir has an exclusive color called Earl Purple with a unique set of 18-inch multispoke aluminum alloy wheels, the Motor Authority reported. It is designed with a distinct winged crest on its grille that comes with a honeycomb-like pattern and additional chrome.

Its interior sports more luxurious equipment including several Avenir badges, quilted leather seats, plush carpeting works, a suede headliner, and ambient 18 atmospheric colored lighting options. It also features a one-of-its-kind dash lining with a texturized surface, mimicking waves particularly along the dashboard and door panels.

The company is yet to announce the details of the GL8 Avenir's engine; however, Buick did hinted that a new generation of the GL8 will be unveiled in China by the end of next year. Some rumors suggest that the third-generation of GL8 will have a turbo-charged four-cylinder motor that could produce over 250 horsepower, according to The News Wheel.

Buick's GL8 Avenir will be available only for the Chinese market and will go on sale in the country on Nov. 5, the GM Authority noted.

On the other hand, Buick has made no announcement when the United States will get to see its first Avenir yet. Avenir, a French term that means "future," is a premium sedan concept Buick introduced last year at the Detroit Auto Show.

Buick's GL8 topped China's car sales last year with more than 76,600 units sold, one of the reasons why Buick has sold over one million vehicles so far this year.
