The flight, carrying 212 passengers, left Auckland for Guangzhou, in southern China, at 10:40 a.m., 40 minutes later than scheduled, the ECNS reported citing Radio New Zealand. The plane landed safely at 11:40 a.m.

Gabriel Thompson, Auckland Airport Emergency Operation Center's shift manager, said the plane has been taxied to a remote hardstand where aircraft engineers are carrying out necessary inspections.

He also confirmed that there were no injuries reported and a full emergency was declared at the Auckland Airport following the report. At least 13 fire crew members, airport emergency responders, and several St John Ambulances were called to the scene but were later stood down.

All passengers and crew members had reportedly disembarked an hour after the plane successfully landed, Xinhua reported citing an airport spokesperson. All inquiries should be directed to China Southern Airlines as the airline is yet to update what to do next.

Meanwhile, flight tracking website flightaware.com showed that the China Southern Airlines plane had flown a small circle shortly after takeoff before it did a wide loop to return in to land. The plane flew 186 km in a loop around greater Auckland before returning to the airport because of engine issues, the NZ Herald reported.
