Along with the release of its latest expansion pack, Ascension, the popular multiplayer online game "Eve Online" has announced that it is providing free access to all players. The news was detailed by the game's developer CCP in a press release.

Characters in the Omega category are similar to those who are played by current active members in "Eve Online." This category allows players unlimited access to training and skill progression. However, this category will require a monthly subscription fee of $15.

In the Alpha category, players will have access to "base" experience, and it is suitable for players who do not want to pay premium to play the game, according to Eurogamer. Characters under this category can train, and use specific skills to fly their spaceships, as well as access skills in industry, trading, and exploration categories.

"Eve Online" developer also introduced Inception, an introduction arc for new players. This new experience features fully voiced mentors, new environments, and a newly designed user interface.

"Eve Online: Ascension" expansion pack includes new features like Command Bursts, Fitting Simulator, and Effect Generators for Titans. New ships, mining fleets, and a new character sheet were also introduced. A few tweaks to balance the game and tweaks to the Roqual industry capital ship were also added.

"Eve Online Ascension" is now available on PC via Steam. Players who do not want to grind through the game and want to start with few extra perks can buy the $20 Core Starter Pack or the $50 Premium Edition.
