Kass International Marathon 2016: Taiwanese Athlete Chen Cheng Yeng on Quest to Beat Kenyan Athletes

A Taiwanese athlete is eyeing to take home the top prize on this year's Kass International Marathon.

Taiwan Athlete Chen Cheng Yeng is looking to not only perfect his skills but also beat Kenyan athletes at their own playing grounds as he trains in Kenya in preparation for the 2016 Kass International Marathon scheduled on Sunday.

According to Hivisasa News, he stated that his performance at the Berlin marathon was beyond expectation and what is left is to do now is beat the athletes at the athletics central, Kenya.

"I want to win Kass marathon since I've been preparing very well for the past one year," he said. "I competed in 2014 and this year, I want to do better by winning."

In his remarks, he said that it might not be an easy challenge winning the 42-km competition but he is willing to do his best to ensure that he gets takes home the medal.

For the past three months, the Taiwanese athlete has been in the country doing some serious training for the long distance competition that is set to start at Kapsabet and end at the Eldoret Sports Club.

"I want to try my best to improve on time and I know Kenyan marathoners are the best," he said.

He also is on a quest to beat Kenyan athlete Shadrack Kipkogey whose best timing so far is 2:13:00.

Meanwhile, Shadrack, a resident of Ndonyongaria in Nandi County, is currently training at Mosoriot in Nandi County. In his remarks, he said he was confident that the title would remain at "the source of champions," adding that he is positive of the result of the competition.

"I have run some races and I know I am in a good form for the race," said Shadrack. "I am hopeful I will do very well on Sunday."
