An extended video footage of a July incident where a woman died after she attempted to save her daughter while the latter was being dragged away by a Siberian tiger at the Beijing Badaling Wildlife World has led to questions about the park's response to the situation.  Zhao, the woman's daughter who was attacked by the tiger, is demanding for a 2 million Yuan ($414,000) compensation.

The initial footage released by the park only showed part of the incident. In the video, the mother and husband were seen leaving the vehicle after the tiger that attacked Zhao and was yanking her away. A patrol car later drives up to the scene and that appeared to be the end of the incident.

In the extended video released by CCTV, however, the husband is seen desperately requesting for assistance from the park patrols to rescue his wife and mother-in-law.  Also, the streak of tigers attacking the two had increased.

Rather than assisting him, park officials instead told him to pave the way for incoming rescue vehicles and began blowing their horns at the tigers hoping that will scare them off.

Visitors to the park also joined in the fiasco as they revved up their engines while pressing on the horns in a bid to frighten the tigers away.

After over 20 minutes, the two women were finally rescued and were taken to the patrol car for medical care. The extended video of the incident shed more light on the whole situation.

According to Asia One, some netizens have expressed agreement with Zhao's decision to demand compensation over the parks failure to have a proper emergency plan.

"The woman was obviously wrong for leaving the car," a Weibo user commented. "But the park's response was obviously inadequate, twenty minutes is too long!"
