Alexis Sanchez has reportedly received a $500,000 a week salary offer from an unnamed Chinese Super League squad which said to have put the pressure on his current team Arsenal to give him a significant wage increase.

Sanchez, 27, is one of the best goalscorers in the Premier League this season with 11 goals in 14 appearances so far, tied with Chelsea striker Diego Costa. His current deal with the Gunners is set to expire in the summer of 2018 and a contract extension is said to be already in discussion for both parties.

Playing in his top form and close to becoming a free agent, the Chile international is rumored to be attracting the interest of a lot of teams all over the world, including those in China's first division football league.

Caught Offside reported that an "astronomical offer from China", in the region of a $500,000 weekly wage, was recently sent to Sanchez's way and it is threatening his future in the Emirates Stadium at the moment.

He is currently earning $165,000 per week in London and despite the reality that Arsenal will be unable to match that size of a deal by China, local tabloids in England reported that the Gunners are willing to make Sanchez the highest-paid player in club history with a salary of around $250,000 a week if he elects to stay.

Daily Mail Online indicated that Sanchez's "representatives are using the Chinese cash to land a more lucrative deal with the Gunners".

Rumors are out that if Arsenal is unwilling to give the Chilean forward a significant pay raise, then his agents will find a new home for him in the Premier League or elsewhere in Europe.

It not quite clear, though, if the player himself is ready to take his talents away from Europe while in the peak of his playing career, but the offer from China certainly gives him an effective leverage to demand a bigger contract.
