Former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson dedicated a heartfelt performance of his song "Just Hold On" on the finale episode of "The X Factor" UK to his late mother over the weekend.

As previously reported, Tomlinson's mom Johanna Deakin passed away just last week Wednesday after a longtime battle with a rare form of leukemia. The tragic news broke on Friday and One Direction fans all over the world, as well as Tomlinson's former bandmates and celebrity friends, were quick to offer their love and support to the singer.

At the time of his mom's passing, Tomlinson had already been booked to appear on "The X Factor" this weekend and it was said to be one of his mom's dying wishes. After all, the collaborative track with world-renowned DJ Steve Aoki is Tomlinson's first official release as a solo artist and was seemingly inspired by his mom.

The lyrics goes, Oh until it's all been said / It's not over until your dying breath / So what do you want them to say when you're gone / That you gave up or that you kept going on?

Just hours before the broadcast began, there was an outpouring of support from his fans and "#ProudOfLouis" became the top trending topic on Twitter worldwide. Tomlinson went also on Twitter to acknowledge his fans, writing:

Tomlinson became emotional after the performance, especially as his mentor Simon Cowell told him, "Your mom was so proud of you, Louis. She was so looking forward to tonight. She's watching down on you now, and you've done her proud."
