Latest trade rumors are out that Goran Dragic could end up playing for the New York Knicks as the Miami Heat has become "open" to dealing their starting point guard before this season's trade deadline.

The Heat are possibly headed to one of their worst seasons in more than a decade. They are currently third from the last place in the Eastern Conference with a 10-25 record and things are looking bleak for head coach Erik Spoelstra's squad.

Speculations abound that Miami is set to undergo an inevitable rebuild in this first season without superstar Dwyane Wade, who joined the Chicago Bulls via free-agency last summer. This is the first time the team has played without the three-time NBA champion since they drafted him fifth overall 13 years ago.

According to CBS Sports, the Heat was able to "stay in games more than most bad teams" as the team is 23rd in point differential but 28th in win percentage so far this season. However, what matters most is getting wins and the squad has been having a hard time doing it with only Hassan Whiteside and Dragic as their team leaders.

Dragic, 30, was acquired by the Heat in February 2015 via a three-team trade with the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans. Expectations were high when he joined the Heat lineup at that time. Dragic has been brilliant from time to time, but he never complemented well with Wade, thus the team was not able to rise up to become title contenders once again.

With the Slovenian point guard already 30 years old, there are rumors that the Heat may not want to build a long-term future with him.

One of the rumored destinations for Dragic is the New York Knicks, who are rumored to be looking for an insurance for the injury-prone Derrick Rose.

Fansided reported that a deal with the Knicks will only be possible if another major setback will happen to the Knicks superstar.

However, Dragic's long-term contract is an appealing option for New York since Rose is only under contract up to the end of the season.
