Former Deputy of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), Xia Xinghua, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China over graft and indiscipline charges, according to a statement issued by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) on Tuesday.

"Xia became the subject of an internal party investigation after being suspected of serious party disciplinary breaches," the CCDI said.

The Global Times reported that Xia had gone against the eight-point guidelines of bureaucracy and extravagance and lacked discipline while serving as the deputy director of the CAAC.

Other allegations levied against him were taking bribes, failing to give out his information as required by the regulation, and buying properties at a far lower price than the market.

"In his business trips, Xia played golf with other people's fees," the statement read. "This is an offense highlighted as unacceptable for CPC officials."

Xia had worked for the CAAC since 2009. He went on to chair the CAAC, a body which represented over 100 airports, in 2014, according to Asia One.

Xia is the latest official among many others who have faced the repercussions of being corrupt under President Xi Jinping's governance. Since 2012, Xi has had a firm stand on corruption, particularly targeting government officials.
