Massive 5000 Year-Old Moon Shaped Structure Found in Israel

An incredible, crescent-shaped stone structure discovered in northern Israel could date from the Biblical era, according to scientists.

This ancient stone structure is believed to be a monument of some sort that designates property rights in a local rural community.  It's possible this structure can be a lot older than the Egyptian Pyramids.

Forming a distinct curved shape that resembles the moon, these relics are apparently massive in size and proportion, measuring 492 feet long,23 feet tall and 66 feet wide. The structure is located around eight miles from the Sea of Galilee,

Ancient pottery remnants excavated from the site reveals evidence it might date back between 3050 B.C. to 2650 B.C.

Although archaeologists believe these structures could be part of an ancient city wall, this theory was debunked by a PhD student from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Ido Wachtel. He thinks it's most likely a prominent landmark that designates ownership of land rights and natural resources in a local rural community.

The structure's remarkable crescent shape can also be associated with an ancient Mesopotamian moon god called Sin, regarded as the chief of all gods and considered as head of the pantheon.

Other theories say these structures function as boundaries that mark the outer part of the town of Beit Yerah ,which in Hebrew means "House of the Moon".

Apparently, there are more similar rock structures found within the area of the moon shaped monument. Towards the east of the Sea of Galilee lies the Golan Heights.

Here is to be found a structure called Rujum el-Hiri distinguished by a cairn or a mound of stones that looks like a small hill. Experts say this is probably 700 years older than the moon shaped structure.

A colossal moon shaped monument was also found underwater in the Sea of Galilee, close to Beit Yerah. This monument weighs a massive 60,000 tons but archaeologists have yet to determine the year of its origin.
