A Chinese state television channel has claimed that its troops can reach India's national capital New Delhi in 48 hours if a full-fledged war breaks between the two Asian giants. This is according to current affairs English journal "International Spectator."

A tweet posted on the journal's official Twitter account read: "CHINA: State TV says it would take country's motorised troops 48 hours and its paratroops 10 hours to reach India's capital if war broke out."

The tweet immediately went viral across India. However, the sensational message did not trigger any panic scenario but rather unleashed barrage of jokes among India's social media community.

Most Indian users especially cracked jokes on New Delhi's infamous traffic jam and how Chinese troops will find difficult to cope with it.

"China is 2 confident of Indian road conditions, china wld hv 2 mk roads on its own 2 reach Delhi by which time it wld b 2 late," wrote one Indian Twitter user.

While another Indian tweeted "Rao Tula Ram Flyover dekha hai? Aur Outer Ring Road? Hahaha. 48 hours, in your dreams."

But there were also many who chose to take the Twitter warning seriously as they cautioned China of dire consequences if it lay siege on New Delhi.

"Chinese are so inefficient? Indian troops can reach Beijing in under 6 hrs. Problem in both cases is what happens to them once they reach," one Indian tweeted.

The Indian government, on other hand, completely shrugged off the Twitter warning and did not issue any official statement on the issue.

Defence experts also maintain that there are also very less chances of full scale war between India and China, especially because both countries want to march on economic path. There has not been any war mongering recently between the two nations despite on-going diplomatic tension.

India and China fought a full scale war in 1962 to settle an unresolved border dispute. The border issues still continue to plague relationship the bilateral relationship, but both countries have employed dialogue mechanism to address the issue.
