Kenyan international football player Michael Olunga is set to complete his switch to the Chinese outfit Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng FC after undergoing a medical with the club, the Chinese Super League team said on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old forward is said to be close to joining the newly promoted Chinese side from Swedish top flight side IF Djurgardens. Olunga has a running contract with The Blue Stripes until February 2020.

According to a published report of the Daily Nation, the details of the Kenyan football star's deal remain scanty, but sources close to the player indicate that Olunga's representatives together with those from the Chinese club offered IF Djurgardens a massive Sh450 million deal (US$ 4.33 million).

The Chinese outfit also revealed that they have obtained the rights for the Egyptian international Ali Ghazal pending medical examinations.

"Guizhou Zhicheng FC hope the two African players will integrate with the team as soon as possible and show their mettle, intrepidity and fighting spirit to the team," the Chinese side said in a statement.

According to Capital FM, both Olunga and Ghazal are expected to join their new teammates in South Korea where the Li Bing-headed side had set up a pre-season training camp.

This is Olunga's second move in as many years, after Djurgardens offered him Sh16.7 million (US$ 160,000) to lure him from the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) powerhouse Gor Mahia in February last year.

Before settling on the Chinese club, Olunga had also attracted interest from several other football clubs. The 2015 KPL Player of the Year was in the radars of the Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray, Real Betis (Spain) and Russian giants CSKA Moscow.

Olunga, who was a Technical University of Kenya product, becomes the latest addition in a growing list of international players switching to the Chinese Super League. Former Chelsea Nigerian skipper John Mikel Obi made his move and recently, Argentine striker Carlos Tevez also completed his transfer deal to play for the Shanghai Shenhua.
