Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is reportedly considering a $1.2 million-per-week move to the Chinese Super League at the end of the season.

Rooney, 31, has struggled to find his usual first-team time under new head coach Jose Mourinho this season and rumors abound that it could be pushing him to consider a move out of Manchester this summer, Metro reported.

The England national team captain, who surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton as the Red Devils' all-time leading goalscorer with his 250th club goal in a 1-1 draw with Stoke City last Saturday, has appeared in only 16 of 22 games for United in the Premier League this season, most of them coming off the bench as Mourinho is favoring his fellow veteran Zlatan Ibrahimović as the starter.

This said to have caused Rooney to think about his future with the club as he still wants to play more football even at his advancing age.

"My whole life has been around football and I would like to stay in the game and hopefully manage," said Rooney. "When you get older you start to think a bit more about the game. It's something I fancy."

With the lack of offers from fellow English teams and the MLS, Rooney is now considering a move to the Far East with proposals being sent to him of up to $1.2 million a week in wages. It would make him the highest-paid footballer in history should any deals of that nature push through.

The Sun indicated that Rooney's $314,000 per week contract is set to expire in the summer of 2018 and there are no indications that United is planning to extend it further.

Rooney is also already contemplating about having a managerial career after retirement, saying that he could be a "good manager" someday.

"I would (like to be a manager) one day," Rooney said. "Football is what I've done my entire life. Currently, I'm in the process of doing my coaching badges."

"So hopefully when I've finished playing I have completed them. Hopefully one day a club will give me the opportunity to manage and I can be successful in doing that," he added.
