Meizu has unveiled the M5sin China, and it will go on sale in the country on Feb. 20.

China-based Meizu launched its budget-priced Meizu M5 device in December 2016, but it did not take too long for the company to release a successor. Ahead of its official launch, the company unveiled the Meizu M5s which features a couple of small hardware upgrades and one interesting downgrade.

The Meizu M5s is a mid-range smartphone with an affordable pricing. The phone’s design sticks to a theme with its hardware, measuring 148.20 x 72.50 x 8.40 and weighing 143.00 grams. The M5s looks attractive with metal unibody featuring a fingerprint sensor in the Home Button. Meizu claims that the handset has mTouch technology that helps to unlock the smartphone in under 0.2 seconds. 

The newly launched device is powered by the octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, and it comes with 3GB of RAM paired with 16GB and 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. Under the hood, it runs on the Android Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Flyme 5.x operating system.

The mobile device sports a 5.2-inch HD screen with a display resolution of 1280 x 720. Its optics include a Sony 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and phase detection auto-focus and 5MP front camera with a lower f/2.0 aperture above the screen. The Meizu M5s sports a 3000mAh battery and comes bundled with an 18W fast charger, which can charge the phone to 56 percent in half an hour.

For connectivity aspect, it features 4G LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, Infrared, Bluetooth v4.0, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB. It is also a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone, accepting Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Its sensors are composed of Compass Magnetometer, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, and Gyroscope.

The Meizu M5s is available in four color options: Black, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold. The sale starts on Feb. 20 in Meizu’s website with price tags of 799 CNY (estimated $115) for 16GB variant and 999 CNY (estimated $145) for the 32GB version.
