Huawei has officially released Honor V9 in China, targeting mobile gaming enthusiasts and virtual reality camera lovers.

The Honor V9 is new and considered a mid-high range smartphone that can be available in other markets soon. Honor’s V series of smartphones are actually supposed to fit squarely in the middle of the mid-range Honor series and higher-end P and Mate series.

Huawei’s Honor V9 comes with 64-bit Kirin 960 octa-core processor paired with 4GB and 6GB of RAM with options of 64 and 128 GB of internal storage respectively, which can be expanded via a microSD card. It runs under Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with Huawei’s EMUI 5 on top. It has dimensions of 157 x 77.5 x 6.97mm and weighs 184g. 

It sports 5.7-inch Quad HD display with 1080 x 1920 screen resolution. The device has dual-camera setup, offering two 12MP camera sensors at the back containing with laser autofocus, LED flash, and 4K video capture. The 8MP camera has f/2.0 aperture good for selfies. It also offers a massive 4,000mAh non-removable battery.

The Honor V9 supports hybrid dual-SIM slot, where users can choose between using two SIM cards or a microSD card. The metal-clad device comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, power and volume keys on the right and capacitive buttons on the front. For connectivity, it supports WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth v4.2 LE, and USB-C.

The handset is available in four color options including black, gold, blue, and red. It will be available at TMall, JD, and Suning on Feb. 28. The 4GB with 64GB of storage costs 2,599 CNY (about $377), 6GB with 64GB internal storage is priced at 2,999 CNY (around $436), and the 6GB of RAM paired with 128GB of internal space is 3,499 CNY (around $508).
