Chinese authorities are going all out to rein over insurgent activities in the troubled Xinjiang province as it holds another massive anti-terror rally in the capital city of Urumqi, barely two weeks after holding a similar rally to send a stern warning against the terror group.

The latest anti-terror rally was held on Monday, with more than 10,000 Chinese troops having assembled outside Urumqi's convention centre while some of the batches were later dispatched to other cities to hold similar anti-terror rallies.

The circulating video footage clearly showed that troops were accompanied by several military tanks and armoured vehicles, while several helicopters were shown overseeing the rally.

Xinjiang's Communist Party secretary Chen Quanguo addressed the troops as he ordered them to go after the terrorists and urged that that they must realize the "grim conditions" facing the region's security."

"Bury the corpses of terrorists and terror gangs in the vast sea of the people's war," Chen told the troops, according to the state media.

Chen later dispatched 1,500 armed police to Xinjiang's other frontal cities like Hotan, Kashgar and Aksu. Apparently, these cities had witnessed surge in violence in the latest bout of terror activities.

Xinjiang, home to the Muslim Uighur minority, has been repeatedly in news in recent years for its rampant insurgent activities against the Chinese government. The latest insurgent activities started in last year December, when a terrorist vehicle rammed into a government building that left five people dead and several injured. This was soon followed with deadly knife attack that again left five people dead.

The Chinese authorities blame Uighur insurgents for the latest spate of attacks that has once again raised tension in the country's only Muslim dominated province.
