Canada remained undefeated in the 2017 World Women's Curling Championship after five days of competitions while China dropped its third straight game following their 7-5 Day 4 win over winless side Denmark.

After thrashing Sweden, 6-4, and the Czech Republic, 9-3, during the Day 5 games on Wednesday, Canada became the first to advance in the playoffs of the said tournament. Head coach Adam Kingsbury's team now has a 9-0 record as the only unbeaten squad. Sweden is currently second with a 7-2 slate while Russia is settled in third place at 6-3.

Another victory in this Friday's Page playoff game will ensure Canada of a finals spot in the tourney, as per the Globe and Mail.

"We're going to try to rest as much as we can when we have the opportunity," said Homan when asked about how they are going to approach the rest of the elimination round games. "But we also need to focus on everything that we've been doing like these past few games, to make sure we continue the same kind of game going forward."

Homan and her teammates, vice-skip Emma Miskew, second Joanne Courtney, lead Lisa Weagle and alternate Cheryl Kreviazuk, have two games left against lowly teams Italy and Denmark to close out the round-robin eliminations.

Meanwhile, China has struggled all throughout the tournament, pulling off just two wins in nine games for a 2-7 record. They are currently in the second-to-the-last place in the standings with only winless team Denmark having a worse record at 0-9.

China has two games left in their elimination round campaign, against Sweden and Russia on Thursday, and it looks like they are no longer qualifying for the playoff round of the competitions.

Chinese skip Wang Bingyu confessed that she and her teammates "were under pressure on the home court", Xinhuanet reported.

"All of us want to perform better, but the pressure is a bit high. Besides, we played four matches in a row, the stamina and focuses were not so good that we made several mistakes," Wang said.
