The American return Panda reportedly did not respond to any gestures made by the excited spectators, who were seen waving their hands and loudly shouting her name. Bao Bao instead chose to remain engaged in her own play time and munching bamboos.

According to Tang Cheng, one of Bao Bao's caretakers, the giant panda had to struggle a little to get accustomed to the new surroundings. The task of learning Mandarin language and getting used to a new diet suitable to new Chinese surrounding was proving to be an uphill one for the giant Panda.

Nonetheless Tang claims that the three year old Panda has made a impressive progress till now. She can also easily understand some Chinese commands like "stand up" and "sit down and is getting fond of her new diet that includes wowotou, or steamed cornbread buns. The caretaker also claimed that she is also becoming fond of the Chinese bamboos.

She became a sort of special guest at the zoo right from the day she was born to her parents Mei Xiang and Tian Tian in 2013. Scores of visitors literally thronged at the zoo ever day to watch this new born Panda with lot of excitement.

But Bao Bao was only a temporary guest at the national zoo. An agreement signed between the U.S. and China paved the way back to her native country. The agreement states that all those Pandas that are given to the U.S. as loan have to return to China before they turn four years old.

Bao Bao's farewell from the U.S. was quite an emotional affair, with thousands of visitors thronging to the National Zoo to check her out during her last few days. She was officially received by China's ambassador to the US, Cui Tiankai, on the final day of her departure.

Although Bao Bao's departure brought tears into the eyes of zoo officials, but they still have Bei Bei to take care of. Bei Bei, Bao Bao's younger brother, was born in 2015 and is equally popular among visitors and zoo officials.
