A leading union of immigration officials said on Thursday that members of ISIS can enter the United States by using the southern border or by exploiting the lax visa policy if the country.

In a statement released by the U.S. National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council, which represents over 12,000 federal immigration workers, it stated that there is a "real and serious threat" that terrorists may find a way to slip into the United Sates.

Council president Kenneth Palinkas said the Islamic State insurgents may try to infiltrate the country through the "porous" border in the southwest or they can take advantage of the "loose and lax" policy on obtaining and checking a visa.

However, security officials of the country said there hasn't been any evidence to prove the councils warning.

According to Palinkas, the Obama administration has made it easy for terrorists to enter the U.S. soil.

In addition, Palinkas pointed out that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents lack resources to go after the immigrants who were allowed to stay in the country under the asylum program.

Palinkas said that this lax in the immigration process can be exploited by terrorists who are seeking entry into the homeland.

He added that the potential executive order of Obama  to legalize those who have overstayed their visas raises the "threat to Americans" because many of those illegal immigrants may be targets for radicalization.

Meanwhile, there are other lawmakers who agree with Palinkas' warning, especially about the "porous southern border."

During a Congress hearing with Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz said he had "reason to believe" that four suspected radicals were apprehended while trying to cross the U.S. border on Sept. 10.

Johnson replied that although he "heard" about the reports, he could not specify about what really happened.

However, Johnson pointed out that there hasn't been any evidence to prove that the terrorist group is attempting to enter the United States.

In addition to Johnson's statement, Matthew Olsen, of the National Counterterrorism Center, said there have been posts on social media from ISIL sympathizers stating that the group wants to expand into the U.S., but no proof has surfaced that the terrorist group is indeed planning an infiltration.
