Tired of getting his packages stolen, a pastor decided to put a stop to the perpetrator's thieving ways by seeking the help of his handy pistol.

Benny Homes, a pastor from The Church of New Beginnings in Baytown, Texas, had reportedly been at his "wits end" when two packages delivered in his front doorstep disappeared. According to his wife, Pat Homes, the pastor opted to take matters in his own hands rather than involve the police in the situation.

Homes decided to concoct a plan to finally catch the thief who allegedly stole the packages, which included the pastor's new robe. Based on the surveillance footage the family acquired from their video camera, they knew that the thief getting the packages was a woman.

"He determined in his mind that he would sit here, however long it took. To see if he could find her," Homes' wife shared. "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall be also reaped," she added.

The pastor's plan involved placing fake boxes, which appeared to be newly delivered packages, in his front porch. He then hid himself from sight and waited for the thieving lady to approach his bait. According to Pat, her husband waited for hours by their window. She was already contemplating calling off their plot when they saw the thief pull into their driveway.

The moment the thief approached the porch and checked on the boxes, Homes immediately opened the door and captured the lady. The thief was later identified as Laurie Ferguson, a 52-year-old grandmother. Despite having been caught in the act, however, Ferguson feigned innocence on the crime.

"She said I'm looking for my dog. He said you found your dog. Bow wow," Pat stated.

Armed with his pistol, Homes ordered the woman to lie on the ground. He then contacted the police.

Responding officers disclosed that Ferguson was still held at gunpoint by the pastor when they arrived at the scene. In addition, two of Ferguson's grandchildren were discovered waiting for her in the backseat of their vehicle. A search of the thief's home revealed roughly 30 stolen items, which she kept in a closet.

Regardless of her crime, however, the Homes family are prepared to pardon her error. In fact, they claim to have a special gift waiting for her after her release-a cap with the word "forgiven" stitched across its front.
