Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin enters training camp with lots of questions to answer. Will he have a bounced-back season? Will he fit well with Kobe Bryant and Byron Scott's system?

But knowing Lin's mentality heading into a new campaign, there's no doubt that he's going to have a better statistical year for the 2014-15 season. The question fans should bother is will JLin's improvement give him a shot at some nice hardware at the end of the campaign?

According to a sports column on Travelers Today, the 26-year old Lin has a chance to become a relevant contender in the race for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.

Lin, who averaged 12 points and 4 dimes a game in a backup role with the Rockets last year, is expected to have a major role for the Lakeshow this season, because of a favorable situation at the point guard position.

Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash will play for perhaps his final season in his illustrious playing career. While there's no denying Nash can still play at a high level with his great feel for the game, the law of nature will eventually take over as the physicality of the league will be too much for the soon-to-be 41-year old veteran.

Scott, who admitted to be a JLin fan, believed that the point guard is going to have an immense season mainly because he's playing for another relevant contract and sort of vindication after two up-and-down seasons with the Rockets.

How can he bag the prize? Well, the Asian American star needs to at least double up his production from last season. Averaging at least 18 points and 8 dimes per game is not even a stretch for Lin, who's very much capable of piling up big numbers as a scorer and playmaker. He showed these attributes during his time with the NY Knicks and few moments with the Rockets.

There will be competitions for the plum, that's for sure. Lance Stephenson of the Charlotte Hornets and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans could be his major rivals. However, Lin could get some edge over them if he ever becomes a major part of the Lakers success this season - which many analysts believed very unlikely thanks to an ultra-competitive Western Conference.
