Microsoft Corporation CEO Satya Nadella has promised to fully cooperate with Chinese authorities in their antitrust investigation into the tech company, the Chinese government said.

The Redmond-based company has been caught up in an anti-monopoly investigation initiated in the summer by China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce. This regulator has already confiscated items it deems incriminating from a number of Microsoft's offices across the country. It's also called in high-level execs for interrogation.

Nadela, who became leader of the world's largest software company earlier in February, met with Zhang Mao, SAIC chief, on Friday in Beijing in what was billed as a peacemaking encounter by the SAIC, one of the three antitrust entities.

Information requested by investigators will be turned over by Microsoft in a timely fashion. The  tech firm is positive the government's examination will be just and transparent, Nadella told Zhang, according to an article posted on SAIC's web page.

Microsoft's CEO also said the regulatory procedures of the Chinese government helped in creating beneficial conditions for the development of both foreign and Chinese companies, according to SAIC.

The anti-trust agency also said its chief vowed a transparent and fair investigation. Zhang's agency received Microsoft's questions and suggestions regarding the inspection well.

Although the software giant refused to comment on the meeting with the government, Microsoft said in a statement it's "serious about complying with China's laws and committed to addressing SAIC's questions and concerns."

Nadella, whose arranged visit was initially reported by Reuters in the previous month, dropped by at the country's capital as part of his first excursion into Asia as head of Microsoft.

He also spoke to Tsinghua University's students in Beijing, and praised the nation as a source of vibrant innovation culture and a source of human capital, according to the official China Daily.
