OnePlus One vs. HTC Desire 820: Specs, Features and Price Showdown

HTC recently unveiled its Desire 820 at the IFA 2014 while the OnePlus One was already released in June. Notably, the OnePlus One replaced its by invitation purchase system with a standard flash sale and pre-order like Xiaomi effective starting October. The OnePlus One operates on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with 3 GB of RAM. Its processor is a Krait 400 with four cores at 2.5 GHz and supported by a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset with Adreno 330 GPU. The OnePlus One has 16 GB and 64 GB variants with no memory expansion capacity.

Meanwhile, the HTC Desire 820 is powered by a quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.5 GHz and a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz. It is backed by a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset with Adreno 405 GPU. The handset has 16 GB of internal memory but it has memory expansion support of up to 128 GB with a microSD card. Android 4.4.2 KitKat is preloaded out of the box with 2 GB of RAM and an HTC Sense UI v6 skin on top of the OS.

Both the OnePlus One and HTC Desire 820 have the same 5.5-inch display, but the Desire 820 has an LCD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and 267 ppi. The OnePllus One has an LTPS LCD display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and 401 ppi.

Both handsets have a 13 MP rear camera with geo tagging, autofocus, HDR, touch focus and simultaneous HD video and image capture. However, the OnePlus One has dual-LED flash with a 5 MP front camera while the Desire 820 features a single LED flash with 8 MP front camera. The Desire 820 has 2600 mAh non-removable battery while the OnePlus One has a 3100 mAh one. The Desire 820 has a $430 price tag while the OnePlus One costs $448.
