The first case of Ebola in the United States had been diagnosed as announced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday.

Although several Americans had been previously diagnosed with Ebola, the person recently diagnosed with the disease is the first to acquire the virus inside the borders of the country instead of abroad. In a report from CDC, the symptoms only became apparent after the patient already flew back from a recent trip in Liberia to the U.S.

After his arrival, the patient became sick and had to be admitted to a Texas hospital. Doctors in the hospital later isolated the patient from the others and staff.

Despite the widespread panic the disease has caused worldwide, however, experts believe that the public health officials in the U.S. could easily and immediately contain the Ebola outbreak.

One of the main reasons why the U.S. could contain the virus is the country's sufficient health resources and extensive methods to control and contain infections or outbreaks. Unlike West Africa, which had been teeming with poverty and shortage in health care, the U.S. has more than enough means to get the outbreak under control.

"Ebola can be scary. But there's all the difference in the world between the US and parts of Africa where Ebola is spreading," Tom Frieden, the director of CDC, shared in his statement on Tuesday. "The United States has a strong health care system and public health professionals who will make sure this case does not threaten our communities," he added.
