The survey, which was compared to the U.S. Census data for sex, age, race, region and education, revealed that 58 percent of Americans support the flight ban from West African countries, including Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea, which are at the center of the Ebola outbreak.

However, 20 percent of the survey participants were not in favor of the flight ban, while the rest said they could not decide on the matter.

There are about 150 passengers from the Ebola-infected nations who travel to the U.S. daily, the report said.

Presently, neither the U.S. government nor the World Health Organization suggested a flight ban from the Ebola-infected nations.

According to Josh Earnest, press secretary of the White house, a travel ban is not something the government is considering at the moment.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in coordination with the United States Customs and Border Protection announced that new airport screening protocols will be implemented at five U.S. International Airports - Atlanta International Airport, Newark, Washington-Dulles, Chicago-O'Hare and New York's JFK.

Meanwhile, the survey found that there were 51 percent of the respondents who fear the spread of the virus in the United States, while another 30 percent were worried that their relatives will be infected by Ebola.

Additionally, majority of the respondents said they did not really know how Ebola is transmitted, while 72 percent correctly answered that the virus is transferred through body fluids.

Seventy-six of the respondents say they trust the CDC more than the 62 percent who said they trust their state health department, to combat the outbreak.

According to the WHO, the recent Ebola outbreak is now the largest in history. As of Wednesday, the outbreak has killed 3,879 people and infected 8,033.
