In New York Times' T Magazine. Tatum talked about his upcoming role and more on the personal side of his life.

The actor, who hailed in Alabama, once worked as a stripper, which made him easily relate his movie character to the struggled of his life in the past.

Tatum revealed that he had to work hard at a very young age to make ends meet.

"Sure, you can go to theater class at a young age. That's not how I did it," he said.

He also discussed about the many fears that he had while he was a child, including the fear of asking a girl for a date.

He explained his fear as the result of the lack of money because he can't "afford dinner at Chili's, so instead maybe we go to Checkers and I make it cool by turning it into a picnic, put the burgers in a basket of my mom's and try to make it romantic. That's the kind of worry I used to have."

Tatum also revealed his difficulty at school because of his ADHD and dyslexia, which made it very difficult for him to bear the classroom setting.

Professing that he was not a "very smart person," he said: "You get lumped in classes with kids with autism and Down syndrome, and you look around and say, 'Okay, so this is where I'm at.' Or you get put in the typical classes and you say, 'All right, I'm obviously not like these kids either.' So you're kind of nowhere. You're just different. The system is broken. If we can streamline a multibillion-dollar company, we should be able to help kids who struggle the way I did."

But Tatum persisted through the obstacles in his life. After appearing in minor roles in Coach Carter and War of the Worlds (both in 2005), he shoot to stardom with Step Up (2006). He solidified his commercial success in  G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), Dear John (2012), 21 Jump Street (2012), The Vow (2012), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013) and 2022 Jump Street (2014).

His marriage to Jenna Dewan Tatum gifted him with a daughter Everly, born in 2013. On parenthood, he told the magazine: "You spend the day watching this thing constantly taking in information, and you have to be sure you're making that happen. At the end of the day when I put her to bed, I feel glad to have some peace but say to myself, 'That was so much fun.'"
