Mnet Explains That Editing Lu Han Out of 'EXO 90:2014' is Unintentional

Following the speculations that South Korean TV network Mnet edited Lu Han out of the ninth episode of 'EXO 90:2014' in lieu to his departure from EXO, the network has stepped forward to explain the real reason behind said editing.

Last Friday, October 17, the ninth episode of 'EXO 90:2014', a show that has been pre-shot by the 11-member boy group including Lu, aired to showcase a remake of female artist BoA's song. However, netizens have complained right after the airing, saying that Lu had been edited out of the episode.

In said episode, EXO's Xiu Min, Lay, Chen, Suho, Sehun and Lu Han were all supposed to be featured for the talk segment, however, viewers have pointed out that although Lu had been included in group frames, his solo shots had been edited out and he wasn't heard speaking once in any of the conversations featured in the show.

Immediately after the airing of the episode, Mnet stepped forward to explain the situation, saying that they have not intended to edit Lu out. The station has stated that the editing was done in order to adhere to the flow of broadcast.

Mnet has claimed that the show is supposedly a 'guest-oriented' show where the special guest for the show is the focus. The network has also emphasized on the fact that Lu's departure from EXO has nothing to do with the way the episode was edited.

Despite Mnet's claims that editing Lu out of the episode was not intended, some netizens still harbor misgivings towards the explanation especially after Kris Wu, another former member of EXO who left in May, was allegedly edited out of a segment in a show.

The same situation was explained to have been a misunderstanding as during that time, Kris was said to have been unintentionally blurred out of the screen in an attempt to cover a logo that was captured in film.

Some are speculating that despite the explanation, the real intention was to edit Lu out as he has severed his ties with SM Entertainment.
