Leaks from China reveal features of new Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone phablet

Apple's next generation iPhone 6 will likely feature a 4.7 inch display panel; will be powered by an Apple A8 processor and retain the 1GB of RAM common to older iPhone models.

Rumors about the new iPhone 6 and Apple's first phablet, both of which are being made in China, have been increasing in the world's technology media due to a spate of leaks. Apple, Inc. has neither confirmed nor denied the persistent rumors.

A leading source of the leaks is Taiwan-based KGI Securities Co. Ltd. and one of its analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo, who apparently has reliable sources within Apple's chain of contractual manufacturing plants in China. Kuo has created a reputation for his generally accurate predictions about new Apple products.

KGI Securities operates as a securities underwriter, dealer and broker. It trades bonds and various derivatives products such as interest rate, credit, and equity derivatives.

Kuo recently issued a huge report that covers what seems to be just about everything there is to know about the forthcoming iPhone 6 and iPhone phablet, which are expected to hit markets worldwide later this year.

Kuo believes the iPhone 6 will feature a new 4.7 inch display panel. It will also have the new Retina panel and will sport a resolution of 1,334 x 750 pixels. He also said the iPhone 6 will feature a new Apple A8 processor and retain the 1GB of RAM found in earlier iPhone models. A Near Field Communication or NFC capability is expected to equip the iPhone 6.

In contrast, rival Android devices now feature 2GB and 3GB of RAM. Kuo noted the iPhone's more limited amount of memory doesn't seem to be a major problem so far.

Kuo said the new iPhone will be much thinner than existing iPhone models. The bezel or the rim on the sides of the display will be reduced by between 10 percent and 20 percent so the phone can still be used comfortably with one hand despite the larger screen.

Kuo, however, didn't have as much information about Apple's first phablet. What he did say was that the Apple phablet will have an A8 processor, NFC and Touch ID. The phablet's battery will be much larger and will be between 50 percent and 70 percent bigger than the current iPhone 5s battery.
