According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Television will collaborate with Netflix to complete the production of the new series. Paramount Television is the subsidiary to Paramount Studios, which is the studio that produced the 2004 A Series of Unfortunate Events film starring Jim Carrey.

A Series of Unfortunate Events follows the story of the orphaned Baudelaire children Violet, Klaus and Sunny, as they search for their family fortune, but suffer from a number of unfortunate events with their new evil villainous guardian Count Olaf. The Baudelaire children then follow a quest in an effort to uncover the real secret behind their parent's death

Since its creation, more than 65 million copes of the series have been sold and have been translated into 43 different languages becoming a staple in School libraries in not just the U.S. but in many other countries as well.

Lemony Snicket showed his excitement for the new TV adaption of his series in his own amusing way.

"I can't believe it," Snicket said. "After years of providing top-quality entertainment on demand, Netflix is risking its reputation and its success by associating itself with my dismaying and upsetting books."

Netflix will be releasing a few other TV series within the next several months including Daredevil, Marco Polo and Bloodline
