A case of bird flu was discovered at a duck breeding farm in East Yorkshire, England, officials said Monday.

Reports said "immediate and robust action" was taken after the confirmed case was discovered.

According to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), the bird flu strain was of the "highly pathogenic H5 strain of avian flu." This isn't the H5N1 type that 's deadly to humans, however.

The risk to public health is extremely low and the Food Standards Agency said avian flu doesn't pose a food safety risk for U.K. consumers, said Environment Secretary Liz Truss to the House of Commons.

Around 6,000 ducks will be culled from Tuesday morning and a 10 kilometer (six mile) exclusion zone has been set-up around the farm after avian flu was confirmed, BBC News reported.

Birds will be tested for the virus. The exclusion zone in the village of Nafferton will prevent all poultry and poultry waste being moved in or out of the area.

European Commission (EC) officials believe the flu case is "most likely" linked to migratory birds heading south for the winter and current outbreak cases in The Netherlands and Germany.

"The United Kingdom and The Netherlands were applying its directives to control the spread of the virus," the EC said.
