Channing Tatum to Direct His First Film

Actor Channing Tatum has decided to move from on screen to behind the scenes. He is set to have his directorial debut with the film, "Forgive Me Leonard Peacock," the film will be based on the novel of the same name.

Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock was written by Silver Linings Playbook author, Matthew Quick and was published in 2013. The novel tells the story of a high schooler who brings a gun to school in order to kill his best friend before killing himself but, before he does the horrid act he goes to say goodbye to everyone else first.

The 34-year old Tatum is also in talks to star as the caring teacher who tries to help change the teenagers mind.

The big screen adaptation has been in development for almost a year, with The Weinstein Company. Writer and Director James Ponsoldt, who directed the young adult film, 'The Spectacular Now' was set to both write and direct the movie but is no longer on board. The production team is currently on the lookout for a new screenwriter to pen the adaptation.

Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock is not the only novel by Quick that is currently on its way to the big screen, his other young adult novel,'The Good Luck of Right Now' is also in development with the team that created, Little Miss Sunshine.

Tatum just came from promoting his new film, Foxcatcher that opened to rave reviews from both the critics and moviegoers. He also just finished filming the highly anticipated Magic Mike sequel, 'Magic Mike XXL.' He is also releasing another film entitled, 'Jupiter Ascending' and will be playing Gambit in the upcoming X-Men movie.
