'Krypton' is Heading to Syfy

Syfy is pandering to the public's need for another superhero origin series by producing a new original series entitled "Krypton".

The show will revolve around the people who lived in Krypton, the imaginary world of Superman's birth. So not only will we learn about how Superman came into being but also get to know his world a bit better - beginning from his grandfather's time.

The official series synopsis states, "years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel's grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known."

The said origin story will be produced by Warner Horizon TV and DC Entertainment, and will be developed by Ian Goldberg of "Once Upon a Time" fame and David Goyer, known for his work on "Constantine", "Batman Begins", "The Dark Knight", "The Dark Knight Rises" and the upcoming flick "Batman v. Superman".

There is no word yet regarding cast members for "Krypton".

"Krypton" will be joining other DC Comics origin series on TV, which include "Gotham", "Constantine", "The Flash" and "Arrow".

Currently, aside from the upcoming "Krypton" series, Warner Horizon TV and DC  Entertainment have produced another Superman-related series - "Supergirl". The said show is already lined up with CBS, but management has yet to cast the titular role.

"Supergirl" is also being developed by Greg Berlanti of "Arrow" fame.

In addition to "Krypton" and "Supergirl", two other dramas based on DC stories are currently in development: "Lucifer" and "Global Frequency", which are set to air on Fox, while "Titans" will air on TNT.
