Kris Wu and SM Entertainment Fail to Reach Agreement Again

After the scheduled second round of court recommended mediation last December 5, South Korean talent outfit SM Entertainment and their former talent Kris Wu (Wu Yi Fan) have reportedly failed to reach an agreement again.

Last Friday, the Seoul Central District Court conducted a second mediation meeting between Wu and the representatives of SM Entertainment. However, both camps failed to reach an agreement, following another failed session last July 8, 2014.

According to South Korean media reports, the mediation, which was held in private, only lasted 20 minutes. It was also only attended by the private counsels of the opposing parties. Wu and Kim Young Min, the standing CEO of SM Entertainment, were both absent from the mediation.

In addition, reports say that the focal point of the mediation was to find a solution that SM Entertainment and the 24-year old singer would agree on before the officially filed case would enter standard civil proceedings.

However, since Wu's representatives as well as that of SM Entertainment failed to come to a consensus, the court has decided that before entering a legal battle, the two camps need to attend a third mediation meeting which will be scheduled the following year.

The former member of the formerly 12-member boy band, EXO, has filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment back in May 15, aiming to nullify his contract with the company. He cited unjust income distribution as well as violation of his human rights as basis for filing the case.

Since then, he has been absent from all of the band's activities and has been actively participating in independent projects in Mainland China. He will make his acting debut in the film 'Somewhere Only We Know' which is set for release next year in February.

He has also released his first music video for the song 'There's a Place' which is an original soundtrack of the film.
