China's economy will continue to grow in the next 15 years to become the world's biggest by 2030, overtaking the current global leader United States, the latest edition of Cebr Global's World Economic League Table (WELT) showed.

In fact, the WELT showed that China's economic dominance could become evident starting as early as 2025 as the country's growth continues to be strong and its clout overseas continues to expand.

By 2030, the US economy will fall into second place, followed by India in third place and Japan, Brazil, the UK, Germany, South Korea, France and Russia comprising the top 10 economies.

The WELT tracks the size of different economies across the globe and forecasts future changes as far ahead as 2030.

This year, the ranking puts the US in the top spot, followed by China, Japan, Germany, the UK, France, Brazil, Italy, India and Russia.

Cebr, a global economic consultant, also said that India's rise will be unstoppable, surpassing Britain to become the largest economy in the Commonwealth in 2018 and the third-largest economy in the world by 2024.

By 2030, it forecasts that globalisation will have reached its mature phase, with China installed as the world's biggest economy ahead of the US.

'The World Economic League table also shows the dramatic changes now taking place in the world's economic geography with slow-growing European economies falling back and Asian economies, even though their growth is slowing, catching up," said Cebr chief executive Douglas McWilliams.

Williams added that the fun of the world economic league table is that it brings things back to hard figures.

"Countries like Russia and Argentina, who have invaded neighboring countries and whose leaders spout aggressively nationalistic rhetoric, are brought down to earth by their falls in the league table as their economies collapse," he said.
