In the wake of the recent terror attacks in Paris satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo's headquarters that killed 17 victims including four French Jews in a grocery, U.S. President Barack Obama called on his allies to attend a global security summit on February 18 in Washington to discuss ways to prevent violent extremism.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder made the announcement Sunday after meeting with his European counterparts in Paris. The invitation came following the worst assault by Islamist jihadists on its homeland security in decades as France mourned the casualties after the three-day violence that engulfed Paris.

The summit is expected to gather security, justice, and interior chiefs from various countries to discuss the recent terror attacks and come up with preventive measures to avoid a repeat of what happened in Paris.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said after the meeting that most of the European interior ministers had agreed to cooperate fully and will most likely attend the summit in an effort to thwart further terror attacks in their soil.

Cazeneuve explained that the no-passport policy of the European community makes it easy for the terrorists to carry out their evil plans of killing more people in the name of Islam.

"We all agree that we need to put in place better control on certain passengers, on the basis of objective criteria and with respect for fundamental liberties and without disrupting cross-border travel," he said.

The French Interior Minister said there is an urgent need in establishing a European Passenger Name Record database to make facilitation on the exchange of data about passengers between member-states fast and credible.

He said the European community has agreed that they badly need this tool to not only fight terrorism but also other serious crimes.

With the database, authorities will be able to follow people traveling to terrorist operating headquarters and those who will return from there.

Cazeneuve said cyber experts in Europe need to regulate the internet and not allow the spread of hate speech, anti-Semitic messages, and the recruitment of minors to sow violence.

More than a million people gathered in France yesterday for a unity march which was attended by world leaders and foreign dignitaries to show solidarity with the victims of the terror attacks and tell the world that France will not be divided.
