CyanogenMod is now available for all Android One smartphones, pushing the ROM's support in India.

CyanogenMod, a free, community built distribution of Android, will now be available for all Android One smartphone owners, in a new update to the ROM.

It is another move by CyanogenMod appealing to the Indian audience, after Micromax announced an exclusive contract with CyanogenMod in India. The Micromax Yureka is the first device capable of running CyanogenMod inside India.

CyanogenMod is designed to increase performance and reliability over Android-based ROMs.Indian Android fans are apparently very interested by CyanogenMod, a ROM that runs similar to Google's stock interface, with minimal UI and UX adjustments.

It is unclear how many Android One units Google has sold, previous reports claimed sales were well below targets, and Google was rethinking the strategy for Android One.

Google worked with Karbonn, Micromax and Spice Mobile on Android One, three of the largest Indian providers, but it has not won over the Indian market.

Xiaomi, Motorola and other low-end providers were part of the issue, offering similar devices in terms of specs at a much lower rate than Android One smartphones.

Things may be better now that Google has pushed advertising in the region, but the average Indian customer is not spending as much as the Android One smartphones cost.

CyanogenMod had trouble working with MediaTek processors in the past, due to the CPU being hard to modify, but the ROM creator seems to have found a solution to these issues.

Hopefully Google doesn't shut down operation on the CyanogenMod ROM on Android One smartphones. Considering Google has been fine with ROMs and mods in the past, we cannot see why CyanogenMod's move into India would present an issue.
