"Grand Theft Auto V" enthusiasts have been anticipating the promised release of the next-generation version of the game for PC on Jan. 27. But to the dismay of many, the PC launch will be delayed until March, according to an announcement by Rockstar Games.

"Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March," Rockstar said in an announcement on its official newswire.

PC users already had to wait longer than most other gamers to get their hands on a next-gen copy of "GTA 5", as versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were released on Nov. 18 with the PC launch promised to be two months later. But the continued delay presumably isn't going over too well for PC users who were planning on getting a copy two days from now.

In Rockstar's defense, though, it's certainly understandable that the game developing company wants to ensure the PC game with all the added features is perfect before launching. "GTA 5" for PC will be capable of operating in 1080p and 60fps with up to 4K resolution.

The delay also brings the highly anticipated Heists DLC release into question. Rockstar said that it would be launching Heists for GTA Online in early 2015, but never specified on a release date. However, Rockstar did mention that Heists would be launching sometime before the PC version is released.

"GTA Online for PC, which will support up to 30 players, will launch alongside GTAV for PC and will include GTA Online Heists. Online Heists for consoles will be launching in the coming weeks ahead of the PC launch," Rockstar announced.
