Multinational chip maker Intel Corporation recently invested in startup Braigo Labs Inc., a young company established by 13 year-old entrepreneur Shubham Banerjee in August 2014.

Shubham's startup develops low-cost printing machines that use Braille, a tactile writing system used by the blind and visually impaired.

Braigo Labs intends to use the investment to recruit professional engineers and experts to assist in the development and design of Braille printers based on Shubham's ideas.

Shubham built his first Braille printer last year as a science fair project using a Lego robotics kit. He learnt about Braille printers after researching online and found out how expensive they are.

"My end goal would probably be having most of the blind people ... using my Braille printer," said Shubham.

The young entrepreneur showcased his Braigo v2.0 printer at the Intel Developers Forum (IDF 2014) Mega Session last September.

Reports say Braigo v2.0 promises to be the cheapest Braille printers in the market. It uses Internet of Things technology along with Intel's Edison Chip.

"He's solving a real problem, and he wants to go off and disrupt an existing industry. And that's really what it's all about," said Edward Ross, Intel's director of Inventor Platforms.
