And while some fans are extremely happy over the news and expressed their best wishes for the bride and groom, some are hilariously devastated and are taking to Twitter to express their feelings.

Some wrote that their Valentine's Day is officially ruined; some, who might have been left speechless by the news, simply used the crying emoticons.

It was just last year when Benedict said he wasn't in a hurry to get married and explained that he used to think he'd be married and have children by mid-30s, but "now I think I can wait," he added.

Apparently, Benedict cannot wait for long.

The couple formally made their engagement announcement in the Times of London newspaper last November and announced that they were expecting their first child together, just last month.

Benedict and Sophie have kept their relationship fairly private, but The Sunday Mirror revealed that they started dating in September, five years after they met on the set of the movie Burlesque Fairytales.

As for their honeymoon plans, the couple is reportedly expected to go on their honeymoon sometime in the near future probably because Benedict is expected to attend this year's Academy Awards, which will be held on Feb. 22.

Benedict is up for the Best Actor award alongside Eddie Redmayne, Bradley Cooper, Michael Keaton and Steve Carrell.
