The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso next season.

With the trade going through, McCoy will be an integral part of the Bills' new head coach, Rex Ryan's, running offense.

The deal was confirmed by current Bills running back C.J. Spiller last Tuesday.

The acquisition of McCoy will leave Spiller without a team. He is set to be a free agent next week.

While confirmed, the deal cannot take place yet until the start of the 2015 National Football League (NFL), which will formally begin next Tuesday.

McCoy's past season was a big letdown from his impressive input in 2013.

In past seasons, McCoy had led the NFL with a total of 1,607 rushing yards.

Apart from that, he is a dual purpose offensive player who can threaten as a running back and as a receiver as well.

In the same season, he had nine rushing touchdowns, 539 receiving yards, and one touchdown reception as well. The 2013 season was considered his best one.

The most recent season saw a drop in his numbers, as he rushed for only 1,319 yards and received for only 155.

The fault is not wholly on McCoy though, as the Eagles had suffered a greatly injured offensive line, with five projected starters never sharing a game together.

Alonso, on the other hand, will have a reunion of sorts as he plays under chip Kelly who coached him at Oregon in his collegiate years.

The linebacker was the second round draft pick of the Bills at the 2013 draft.

He emerged as a top contender for defensive rookie of the year, while leading Buffalo with 159 tackles and tying the team lead of four interceptions.

Last season, Alonso spent most of his time on the sidelines due to injury.
