U.S. Republican Senators sent a warning letter to Iran in an effort to block President Barack Obama's effort to seal the Iran nuke deal.

According to reports, U.S. Senator Tom Cotton of (R-Arkansas) drafted the letter, which was later signed by 46 other Republican senators. It mainly warned Iran that any kind of nuclear agreement they strike with Obama would still need approval from Congress.

The letter also says that any deal between Iran and six world powers, that includes the U.S., would be subjected to congressional approval. The letter is dubbed as the "Open Letter to the Leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran".

The warning letter was reportedly made to educate those who do not understand the constitutional system of the U.S. It also served to convey to Iran the message that all deals should benefit all involved parties for it to be established as an official agreement.

However, the letter has become unpopular among the Democrats and the White House because it contradicts and undermines the Obama's ability to make foreign policies and deals without intervention from the Senate and Congress. Basically, Obama has the presidential authority to conduct such deals without congressional approval.

In a statement, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said a letter signed by 47 senators of the same Party raises concern on what is the real intent of those who created it.

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) also released a statement saying the letter is inappropriate and an unprecedented incursion to the authority of the president to conduct foreign affairs.

The letter comes a week after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech before the Congress about Iran's nuke deal. The Israeli leader delivered the speech to convince Obama that he is making a "bad deal" with Iran.
