OnePlus One Cyanogen Update Coming This Week

OnePlus One users will be relieved to hear the much delayed Cyanogen OS - Android 5.0 Lollipop version is coming out this week.

Last week, OnePlus issued a statement announcing CyanogenMod 12 OS has finally been certified. The company explained the problems with the certification process have been the cause of delay.

OnePlus, on the other hand, has launched its own version -- the OxygenOS -- to give users an alternative OS besides CyanogenMod 12 OS.

OnePlus One users will receive the Cyanogen 12 OS as an Over the Air (OTA) update.

The Cyanogen update was previously announced for March 30 but certification problems forced to company to move back the date. Carl Pei, a co-founder of OnePlus, issued a tweet last Sunday to assure their customers.

In his tweet, Pei wrote, "We've learned it's irresponsible to give ETA's when we're not sure." Pei admits his company has committed an error but tweeted getting the same questions over and over again isn't helping anyone.

He later added that Indian OnePlus One users will be also receiving updates though he isn't sure if they'll get it over the air.

Cyanogen was dragged into a controversy with Micoromax and its ongoing feud with OnePlus. Micromax recently petitioned the Indian court to have OnePlus One smartphones banned in India  just before the release of its own Yu Yureka smartphones.

Micromax and Cyanogen inked a deal in which the latter will provide the OS. Cyanogen has reiterated OnePlus One Indian users will also receive their OS updates via OTA just like everybody else.

The OnePlus One smartphone has been praised for its technical qualities. A number of people have been complaining about how hard it is to get one, however. There is also growing customer dissatisfaction with the product support and delivery.
