Janice Man Breaks Away From Sweet Image, Plays A Mercenary's Assistant in 'Helios'

Actress Janice Man, a former fashion model known for her sweet and feminine image, plays a strong willed assistant of a wanted mercenary in the movie, 'Helios', according to Stomp Strait Times.

Man was cast as one of the few female actresses in a predominantly male cast.

The 29 year old actress had to endure six months of rigorous training that included performing a hundred push ups per day. Man also posted in her Facebook account several pictures of her in training, in preparation for the role.

One of Man's best remembered scenes was when she was chased by Nick Cheung's character in an alley, using her skills in combat she manages to break free from Cheung's grasp when he tried to arrest her.

"My eight pack abs are now useless," said Cheung in an interview, while filming his scenes with Man. Cheung further added that the scene was a good fight and Man also had good fighting scenes with Ji Jin Hee and Choi Si Won.

Helios is a Hong Kong crime thriller film that features an international cast of Hong Kong, Taiwanese and Korean stars.

Chang Chen plays Helios, a rogue mercenary who works hand in hand with Janice Man's character. The duo steal a massive amount of Uranium as a means to create a weapon of mass destruction.

Upon arrival in Hong Kong to meetup with a terrorist organization, they are intercepted by a team of Hong Kong's counterterrorist unit. Along with an additional set of allies they aim to stop Helios' act of terrorism.

Helios is written and directed by Sunny Luk and Longmond Leung, who also created the 2012 hit movie Cold War.

The world premiere for Helios already commenced and was held in Beijing last April 25.

The movie is slated for its Mainland China release this coming April 30 and Hong Kong's schedule for its premiere is on May 1.
